Joe McFadden's Fly & Tackle Shop is the premier fly shop on the Delaware River, opening it's doors in 1995. The shop was originally in Cochecton, New York, 12 miles downriver from it's present location. The shop is located on Route 97 overlooking the scenic Delaware River. It is a full service fly and tackle shop and the largest R.L. Winston dealer in the area.

The flies are mostly tied by a local fly-tier who is very knowledgeable in colors and sizes with patterns unique to the Delaware River systems. With so many different hatches, there is a large selection to choose from.

Fly-fishing schools in the spring and private casting lessons are available. Call for our rates and schedules.

The Best of the Catskills 2003

Instruction: Women's fly fishing school in mid-May has been very popular with limited availability. The number of participants is kept to a minimum so the individual can be given more attention and help as needed. The women's fly-fishing school is done in cooperation with R.L. Winston Rod Company and is taught by an outstanding fly fishing woman from Montana. Her knowledge includes making rods, catching fish and also how to read the water the fish live in.

Mixed schools are also available and are taught by Joe McFadden and members of his staff.

Experience & Knowledge: Joe McFadden has 47 years experience in both fly-tying and fly-casting. He has won over 180 First Place trophies for fly casting. Joe is the former Eastern United States Fly-Casting Champion and also Eastern United States All Accuracy Champion. There are many other awards to Joe's credit throughout the years.

Joe has also been a certified casting instructor for 40 years. With his experience & knowledge, Joe can teach you how & where to present a fly, how to read water, streamside etiquette, the different patterns to use, rod selection; and how to balance rod, reel & line. Learning to flyfish the proper way will make your day an enjoyable one on the water. A day that you will remember for a very long time!

Joe was the former president of the Upper Delaware Chapter of Trout Unlimited; a Region 4 vice president to the New York State Council of Trout Unlimited; the chairman of the Delaware River Committee for T.U.; a member of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center for many years and a member of the Federation of Fly-Fishers. He has fished both The Delaware and the surrounding waters and also in the West.

He Has taught people of all ages from youngsters to adults, both men & women. We have guide services with some of the most knowledgeable & courteous guides on the river. They are here to make your trip a memorable one.
